Ted..We are so very lucky to have had Grandmothers in our lives. I notice that she has a Dutch last name. Was she or your grandfather from here in NL?

Colby, thanks for the note. She had 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She and my grandfather (died when I was 3) were both born and raised in the US, but we are still in contact with some Jonckheeres in Amsterdam, yes.

Ah, I’m sorry. I’ve so enjoyed having my grandparents. It’s a wonderful thing.

love the photo ted. my grandmother is old and angry — i’ve tried picking her brain about the good days she has lived over 90 years, but it is difficult. i’m sorry to hear of your loss, though i suspect you’ve had terrific conversations with her, not to mention her love.

Three (of six) of my grandmother’s children spoke at the funeral. The firstborn spoke eloquently about frost forming on a window where one spot will reach out like a web and often connect in at least one place with other spots. We were all gathered in that place because of the Elizabeth Jonckheer spot. She was the center that day. But we’re all the center of our own universe of connected people. People who love each other or simply get along. Very inspiring imagery.
