Debbie and Gerry

Posted: January 2nd, 2006 | Author: ted | Filed under: friends, links | 4 Comments »

My friends Debbie and Gerry have non-blogs. They don’t write often, but when they do, it’s generally worth reading.

This post is part of my ongoing links series, slowly replacing the blogroll in the sidebar.

Is there any particular philosophy or theory behind doing a non-blog?

    Is a “feed” possible off a non-blog?

I can only speak for myself on the first question, not Gerry. If I feel I’m an expert in a field, and a new “fad” comes along where anyone can easily get into the field, I might resist joining that fad, at least symbolically. I’m sure there are plenty of other explanations, but that’s the one that would be true for me were I to have a non-blog.

I believe a feed is possible, but since the site is created by hand in HTML, the tags for “post title”, “post address” and “post text” (can’t remember the actual tag names, these are samples) would have to be inserted by hand. Then a feed generator could do it’s work and a feed be produced. Or I suppose one could even write the feed manually each time after posting.

The field being technology, the Internet, or the earlier variants of what were to become blogs?

Any of the above would qualify, if it were me. Again, I can’t speak for Gerry.
