water leaking from gas valve of my furnace

My furnace hasn’t been working.  The blower would just blow and blow, but no gas was being burned.  My HVAC guy came today, and discovered that there was a whole lot of water leaking from the gas line valve.  I noticed the water in there, but didn’t know how significant it was.  He dried it out and pressed the reset button for the safety that shut it down, and it started up, and eventually dried itself out and now seems to be working.  He was baffled about where the water was coming from and we’re just keeping our fingers crossed at this point.  No idea what caused it.  Strange.

I just read about your gas lines and the water in them. I don’t know if this will help, but a year or two ago my gas lines were filled with liquid. It was a bit different from yours because the liquid coming from mine smelled like some sort of gas or kerosene. It turned out to be petroleum distillate… and this is how it happened. I think that the same thing can happen in commercial gas lines. When the weather changes it causes the vapors in the gas to turn to liquid. Ie, idf it is hot then it gets really cold, all of the liquids separate from the gas and drop into the lines. My gas comes directly from the wells, so the distillate is not refined out…I solved it by putting a heater onto the line before it reached the regulators. I hope you get it fixed…I know what a pain it can be to have to deal with it.
